It's now official; I'm running for Alderman in Ward 14. My decision to run began about 18 months ago, when I decided that there needed to be a change in how things were run in Calgary.
It was my feeling that city council, in a lot of ways had become out of touch with the majority of Calgarians, and was no longer representing their views, nor always acting in their best interests. Like most people, I began to talk with friends and family, but talking often doesn't affect change. What could I do to make a difference? The answer of course, was to become involved in the process of initiating change.
I looked at the problems as I saw them, and what the potential solutions would be. After a lot of thinking, I decided running for Alderman was something I was ready and willing to do.
I want to bring a new voice and a new vision to city council, one that is more in step with that of the people of Ward 14 and one that is going to see our city not only through it's current issues, but also through the issues of the future. Calgary is a growing city, and we need to ensure that growth is being managed responsibly and efficiently.
